Children's Museum

Fun, fun times at the Children's Museum in Indianapolis. The picture to the right is Olive in the glass art room. Very bright and beautiful. She really enjoyed looking at all the bright colors.

To the left is a photo of Cora walking down the barbie stage. A model in the making. Dressing up is fun!

The next picture is of Cora having tea with her mom and some bears! Between her and the bears is a glass window and on the far wall is a mirror. You sit next to the bear but cannot touch the bear. One poor girl came into the room and ran right into the glass window. She was so shocked but didn't cry - and she sure hit the glass hard.

Barbie and Me

The Children's Museum had a Barbie display and of course, I needed my picture with the 1959 Barbie. She and I age together, but I don't think I can wear a bathing suit like that!

I had 2 or 3 Barbies growing up. My first one had plastic slick hair and three wigs to use (blonde, red and brown). The other one that I remember was a talking Barbie. My mom made clothes for my Barbie and I even made Barbie clothes by taking a scrap piece of material and putting elastic on one end and a hem on the other and just pulled the elastic up over Barbie's chest. I was an awesome seamstress!

I still have my Barbies and Barbie cases. I had a Barbie apartment and a Barbie kitchen too. I spent hours playing with my Barbies in my own imaginary Barbie world.

Oh, the memories.

Indy Trip

My husband had a planning meeting for an upcoming conference in Indianapolis so I went along as well as my daughter and two granddaughters. We drove and stayed at the downtown Hyatt when we arrived.

The first day we went to the Children's Museum, which is huge and really packed full of fun things for all ages of children to enjoy. I will post pictures of that soon.

The second day we walked around the state capitol, which was across the street from our hotel. I enjoy visiting and taking pictures of state capitols. I have several pictures in my collection.

While my granddaughters were taking their naps, I walked to the Civil War Monument and took several pictures. The museum was not open, so didn't get a chance to see it. Maybe next time.

We had a great time and I enjoyed my time with my daughter and granddaughters. My husband worked most of the time, but did get to be with us during the evenings.

The downtown area had a lot of restaurants and a large shopping mall. What we didn't find was a playground and a toy store for Cora. We drove a few miles from downtown and found those two things for her to have fun.

Colorize a Photo

I've been wanting to figure out how to colorize a black and white photo and looked up the instructions on the internet. I found instructions that use my software, Adobe Photoshop. Click here for the instructions.

My granddaughters' pictures were my first examples of trying this technique. I can tell now, that I'm going to love this photo option. Love, taking pictures and love editing pictures.

Holiday Art

Happy St. Pat's Day!

Isn't it interesting to see what Google comes up with every holiday or special event? They come up with some very interesting graphics.

Back to St. Pat's - I am part Irish, but I believe it is a very small part. My family background is English, Scottish, Spanish, and probably more than I know. I do have red hair and green eyes, so "Top of the Mornin'" to you!

Disciple Now

Our church youth is having Disciple Now weekend and we are hosting the high school boys! Ten teenage boys downstairs in our basement along with their leader.

They have stayed downstairs for the evening. We have a kitchen, bedroom and bathroom/shower downstairs, so they should have everything they need. They bring their sleeping bags and sleep anywhere.

We bought snacks and soda and lets just say I will be heading back out to the grocery store today for more supplies! Teenage boys can pack it away! I'm also planning on baking cookies today and having them ready for them when they return from their service projects.

DNow, as it is called, is a youth retreat using church members' homes for lodging and grades 7-12 participate in bible study, service projects, worship and fun times hanging out together.

It ends with a combined worship service on Sunday with the youth leading the service. We've been involved with DNow in one or another for about 10 years.

Alligator Clips

I bought alligator clips on etsy. I've looked at Hobby Lobby and they are either out or I can't locate them each time I'm in the store, so I decided to just check out etsy and buy some. Great idea!

Hobby Lobby does have grosgrain ribbon packages 1/2 off, so I bought my ribbon and prepared for my barrette building.

I made several barrettes for my two granddaughters. Some with bows and some with buttons. I bought 24 clips and have made about 8 so far. Fun and easy. Good combination.
